Help & how to revoke an approval

ApprovalWatch finds and explains approvals. Only you can change them — in your own wallet, on a service you choose. We never execute revokes.

Why check at all? An approval is like a spare key: if an app you once approved is later hacked, that permission can be used without your password or seed phrase. Checking shows you who can still spend so you can decide what to cancel. It reduces surprises — it cannot guarantee safety.

1. Verify a finding first

  1. Run a scan and note the token and spender in the finding you want to check.
  2. Use the Verify on explorer link in your report. It opens the block explorer for the chain you scanned. Confirm the token contract, the spender address, and the wallet match what you expected.
  3. If you do not recognise a spender, that is a reason to look closer — not proof it is harmful. Check which app you used it with.

2. Revoke it yourself

  1. Go to Revoke.cash (linked from your report) or the token page on the block explorer for your chain, such as Etherscan, BscScan, Basescan, Arbiscan, or Polygonscan, and connect your own wallet there — never on ApprovalWatch. We have no wallet connection, by design.
  2. Find the same token and spender approval and choose Revoke. This sets the allowance to zero.
  3. Confirm the transaction in your wallet and pay the network fee yourself.
  4. Wait for confirmation, then re-scan here. The approval should no longer appear.

Good to know

  • Revoking can affect apps that rely on that approval — you may need to approve again next time you use one.
  • An unlimited approval is not automatically misuse. It means the spender could spend up to that amount without a new approval from you.
  • Nothing here is financial advice, and a scan is not a guarantee that a wallet is safe.
  • Never enter a private key or seed phrase anywhere that asks for one to “revoke” or “verify”. No legitimate step needs it.
